Market on Front (Tipson), Missoula MT

I was immediately struck with the absurd amount of foam on the top of this chai. It was sweet with a hint of some complex flavors, but never quite got to the depth I wanted. But I found myself not being able to stop drinking it, just like you can never stop talking to that one guy on Snapchat. It’s sweet but lacks depth, like it’s holding off on you. You think that maybe if you keep trying, you can convince it to let you in further, show you what it’s hiding. So you keep drinking, sending messages, imagining what it will be like when you finally are let in. It’ll be incredible, you think. You’ll go out, it’ll open up to you, you’ll fall deeply into a safe and comfortable love, and it’ll be everything you’ve ever imagined love could be. But then you get to the end, and all that’s there are the loose leaves at the bottom of every other chai, and you realize there was never anything there. It was all just milk and your imagination filling in the details.

6/10 for being a really good surface for your fantasies
